Some pics from the show…

These were all shot just before my show opened…

The amazing show curators/organizers and all round top lassies – Mary Beth Brown and Zoma Wallace from DC Commission on the Arts.

Me looking pensive just prior to opening the doors.

Some people did actually turn up…btw this was stitched together from 8 handheld 35mm images using CS4 – unbelievable.

New Show – Teen Parenting Perspectives

Over the last 9 months or so I’ve been working with Sasha Bruce Youthwork, a local non-profit, photographing teen parents and their kids. Amazingly enough this has resulted in a show at Eastern Market that opens on friday 13th of May at 7pm!!

The show will be held in the North Hall and will be up from May 6th (soft opening) until May 20th. On display will be 7 large color portraits (30×40) plus 9 black and white (35mm) prints 18×27.

Everyone is welcome. Please come along and support the great work that Sasha Bruce do.

CULT 10/29/2010 – The Cult of Frank Van Riper, The Exhibt

After more than 3 years of suds (beer) and silver (photography) the Washington DC underground photography club – the Cult of Frank Van Riper, finally held their own exhibition in a gallery above Social on 14th Street. I exhibited 2 silver gelatin prints of work that I shot in Scotland this summer.

We got some press also which was nice…

Teen Pregnancy Awareness Show

Over the last 6 weeks I’ve been working with the Sasha Bruce Youthwork on their Teen Pregnancy Awareness Campaign.

I did portrait sessions with 7 separate families 2 of which were single parent and 5 two parent. Last Wednesday May 26th we had a show of my images at Sasha Bruce’s HQ in Capitol Hill, Washington, DC.

We printed and framed 15 separate 12×16 images some of which are shown here on flickr.

Streetwise Partners – Fall Graduation 2009

Recently I shot my 3rd Streetwise Partners Graduation and my second at Gallup’s HQ in Washington, DC.

This one was just as much fun as the previous ones. Keynote speakers this time were Best Selling Author and Life Coach, Margie Warrell as well as Gallup’s CEO Jim Clifton.

Of course the real stars were all the graduates who made it all the was through the demanding program to the ceremony. This time I used my trusty Vivitar 283 flash and off camera bracket that I picked up for 3 dollars in a used furniture store on 14th Street.

The full set of images can be viewed here.

Here are this semesters Graduates, Mentors and Leadership.

Gallup CEO Jim Clifton.

One of this semesters Graduate/Mentor pairs.

Of course no Streetwise event would be complete without me photographing this photogenic pair – if you know what I mean?

Streetwise Partners – Taste of Success 2009

Streetwise Partners work with top-notch corporations to build mentoring relationships between low-income individuals and volunteer business professionals to develop workplace skills and employment networks as the bridge to a successful career.

I’m a past mentor and thoroughly recommend them to any professional looking to ‘give something back’ by spending a number of hours each week developing relationships with young and older adults and sharing your skills and experience with them.

I was asked to be their event photographer for their 2nd annual annual Taste of Success fundraiser. You can view the full set of images on flickr.
