This is Black and Kinky week!

November 18, 2009

Margaux’s show opens this Thursday (11/19) at the Capital Hill Arts Workshop

Last night I popped along to the Source theater on 14th Street to shoot her rehearsals. One of my memory cards died (only when I plugged it into my card reader and after having reviewed all the images in camera!) but I was shooting with 2 bodies so the shots from the other card were fine.

Streetwise Partners – Taste of Success 2009

November 8, 2009

Streetwise Partners work with top-notch corporations to build mentoring relationships between low-income individuals and volunteer business professionals to develop workplace skills and employment networks as the bridge to a successful career.

I’m a past mentor and thoroughly recommend them to any professional looking to ‘give something back’ by spending a number of hours each week developing relationships with young and older adults and sharing your skills and experience with them.

I was asked to be their event photographer for their 2nd annual annual Taste of Success fundraiser. You can view the full set of images on flickr.

October 8, 2009

A promotional photo shoot for my friend Margaux’s upcoming one woman show about her 6 month visit to India called ‘Black and Kinky amongst Brown Waves’ showing in November at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop in DC.

Margaux has been working on this show for over a year and a half. I’m really looking forward to attending.

Kaelyn Joan Hendricks

July 9, 2009

I recently did a portrait session with one of the most laid back clients I’ve ever photographed. Wee Kaelyn was very happy just to lie back and let me do all the work…

Itzincab, Mexico

July 5, 2009

Along with the final exhibition of ‘24 on 14th‘ I also spent some time assisting my friend Dan teaching photography to a bunch of kids in a local village about 1hr outside the city of Merida.

For the 2nd session we did a basic portrait workshop outside with natural light and in the surroundings of the village, Itzincab. The kids really took to their new cameras and we also very willing subjects for me as I shot them while Dan pointed out some techniques I was using.

DC Scores

June 21, 2009

Here are some shots of a recent gig I shot for DC Scores - a terrific organization that gets kids spending time playing soccer rather than on the streets and instills a sense of teamwork, greater self esteem, positive peer to peer interactions and a stronger attachment to school. the Big Time

June 16, 2009

this month my friend, photographer Josh Yospyn is featured with a 2 page spread in Popular Photography – the world’s biggest selling photography magazine!

Josh’s subject is a rather familiar yet strangely elusive scotsman in a ‘deliberately’ un-ironed shirt.
